Maple Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies

Maple Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies

It felt appropriate to start this blog with a unique dessert, like my maple bacon chocolate chip cookies.

A friend of mine was having a backyard potluck style wedding. As a huge baker, she asked me to bring one or many dessert items. Knowing this individual is Canadian and immigrating to Alaska, I thought it would be fun to bring a little bit of home to her in my baking.... Maple Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies seemed like the perfect answer. Easy to eat and high in calories (which no one cares about because you're eating high calorie wedding food anyway).

With all this said, most of my recipes alters other ones that I find and want to adjust to my liking. This recipe was orginally found from The Baker Chick.

Maple Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies! - Makes 3 dozen

2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
12 tbsp. unsalted butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1 egg yolk
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 1/2 lb package of bacon strips - cooked and cut into bits - divided
1 cup powdered sugar
maple syrup
water as needed

  1. Preheat oven to 325. Put parchment paper on cookie sheets
  2. Beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Add egg, yolk, and vanilla.
  3. Slowly add dry ingredients. Finally add chocolate chips and 2/3rds of your bacon. (Suggested around 1 1/4th cup of bacon).
  4. Bake for approximately 11 minutes and place them on the wire rakes to cool.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix roughly 1/8th cup of syrup and powdered sugar. I added a little bit of water to make it easier to stir. Keep adding maple syrup, water, or powdered sugar to get the desired consistency and flavor.
  6. Drizzle icing on the cookies and sprinkle bacon on top.
  7. ENJOY!!!

As delicious as these cookies are, I will warn you that I got heartburn after "taste testing" too many of them.
